Open guide hubAn equated monthly instalment (EMI) is the fixed amount you repay to a lender each month. It includes both principal and interest, so even a small change in the interest rate or tenure can affect your monthly budget and total repayment.
Check My EMI helps you compare loan scenarios before applying. Adjust the amount, rate and tenure to find a monthly payment that fits your budget—not just the maximum loan you may qualify for.
A larger principal leads to a higher EMI when the rate and tenure stay the same. A bigger down payment can reduce both the EMI and total interest.
A lower rate reduces borrowing cost. Compare the annual percentage rate, processing fees and whether the rate is fixed or floating.
A longer tenure lowers the monthly payment but usually increases total interest. A shorter tenure costs more each month but can save interest.
Calculator results are estimates for planning purposes. Your lender's repayment schedule may differ because of fees, rate changes, rounding or the loan disbursement date.
An EMI calculator estimates the fixed monthly payment for a loan using the loan amount, annual interest rate and repayment tenure. It also helps you understand the total interest and overall repayment.
The standard reducing-balance formula is E = P × r × (1 + r)n ÷ ((1 + r)n − 1). Here, P is the principal, r is the monthly interest rate and n is the number of monthly instalments.
